Josh Gutfreund is a Partner at Tang Media Partners. Mr. Gutfreund has more than 20 years of experience in the private equity and media businesses, including as a General Partner at Clarity Partners since the formation of that firm in 2000. Clarity is a private equity firm with several institutional funds totaling over $1.5 billion under management combined.

At Clarity, Mr. Gutfreund focused primarily on growth, buyout, joint venture, and other equity investments in the media sector. Portfolio company responsibilities and Board roles have included Village Roadshow Entertainment Group Ltd. (major motion picture libraries, film finance and production, and prior owner of recorded music and music publishing assets through Concord Music); BASE Entertainment (live entertainment productions, programming rights, venues, and IP); Oxygen Media (cable programming network), and Naylor (business-to-business information, advertising, & events). Mr. Gutfreund's broad transaction experience includes mergers and acquisitions, all forms of equity investments, credit facilities, add-on acquisitions, and raising and managing various institutional fund vehicles. 

Prior to Clarity, Mr. Gutfreund served as a Partner at Rader Reinfrank & Co., LLC, a $100 million growth equity fund from 1997-2000. Prior to RRCO, from 1993 through 1997, Mr. Gutfreund was an Associate Director at Chartwell Partners, a private investment firm controlled by A. Jerrold Perenchio focused on media and communications businesses, including Univision Commmunications Inc. Prior to Chartwell, Mr. Gutfruend was an Associate at the private equity firm Warburg Pincus from 1988 to 1991. 

Other prior investments and Board activities include xSides Corporation (IP patent portfolio), Multex (online financial information), BladeRunner Interactive (video game publishing), and OpTel (wireless cable television). 

Mr. Gutfruend holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University and an M.B.A with distinction from New York University's Stern School of Business.
